MATERIAL GUIDE

ILLARA handbags are handcrafted at a small atelier in Thailand by artisans whose expert craftsmanship and meticulous attention to detail has been honed by years of experience. Details such as hand-stitching and hand-turned edges along with our signature semi-precious gemstone hardware create the one of a kind nature of our luxurious designs.

All of our exotic skin is sourced in compliance with CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora); which is an international agreement between governments. Its aim is to ensure that international trade in specimens of wild animals and plants does not threaten their survival. We do not use any endangered or threatened species to produce our handbags.

SNAKESKIN
ILLARA handbags are crafted from Ayers and Hardwicke's Sea Snake leather sourced from Thailand. The snakeskin features natural markings to retain the one of a kind nature of the leather. Some variation in markings and pattern is to be expected due to this feature.

OSTRICH LEG
Due to the unique look and texture of each ostrich skin, no two products are exactly the same. Each skin is unique in its own specific coloring, markings and pattern of scales. ILLARA ostrich leg leather is finished to allow you to see the real natural surface grain and marking of the leather.

Please note that it is perfectly normal for ostrich leg leather to feature small natural marks such as wrinkles, kiss marks or veins. These are usually found in the small scales area, but sometimes also around the large scales. This is a natural feature of the leather and it is in no way considered to be an imperfection, but rather a unique characteristic of each skin. It is perfectly normal for the large scales to part somewhat from the surface of the leather. This adds to the distinct reptilian look of the leather. Each ostrich leg product will feature the natural marks and parting scales to some extent.

SEMI-PRECIOUS GEMSTONE HARDWARE
ILLARA handbags are finished with our signature semi-precious gemstone hardware. The natural beauty of semi-precious gemstones adds an unexpected detail to compliment the colors and textures of each design. The metal hardware is crafted from solid brass and plated in 18k gold for a luxurious finish.
