SEE: Castel Sant'Angelo
Originally constructed in 123 AD as a mausoleum for Emperor Hadrian and his family, Castel Sant'Angelo as it is known today, has a rich history from serving as a military fortress connected to the Vatican, to a prison, and finally a museum. Arrive via the Ponte Sant'Angelo, a beautiful bridge which crosses the Tiber and links the castle to the center of Rome.
